Rural Vermont

The journey that took me to Vermont was beautiful and eye opening. This landscape was the stage for my MFA degree program, located in the small town of Plainfield about twenty minutes from Montpelier and about an hour from Burlington. Two times a year I went up to Vermont and stayed for approximately eight days. I experienced the extremes in temperature, finding summer heat in the 100's and cold winters in the single digits. Since I originate from Buffalo, New York, the snow was not a big surprise to me, yet it had been several years since I had seen that much snow. One day, we received over 30 inches of snow that shut down almost all of Vermont. My rental car was buried and I could only see the outlines of the cars in the parking lots. Still, we carried on at school in our self-contained arena of art and learning. I did manage at times to get off campus and explore the area, including Burlington, Stowe, Montpelier, Barrie, and some reservoirs and quaint areas. The images below were taken of the area landscapes as well as the campus experience.
