Seeing Dimensions

Glass is the perfect material to add dimensions to an image because of its transparent quality. Below is a good example of that. The sun room in my house has windows on three sides and birds have mistakenly thought they could fly through only to find out that it was not possible. The bird in the images below must have been stunned when it found that out, and since I did not find it outside on the ground I figured that it had survived. When I looked at this I thought about the bird, and then I made the connections between the sky and the bird.

The image on the top row left was shot with the background clouds out of focus. In the next image I shot, top row right, I made sure everything in the photograph was sharply focused. Finally I included my own reflection in the last image. I think this image is the most powerful because it includes me as the creator of the image and adds yet another dimension (bird, trees, and my hands holding the bird’s shape).

I took the images below out of the window of a plane as I waited 3 hours in a rainstorm to take off. I found the patterns very interesting. Although I did not include any object information in the background, I found these images were interesting and that they looked more like carvings. I also liked the way the same image looked when I added color to it.

The next four images have more dimensions than the other images because I include some information in the distance. I like the illusive, out-of-focus look of the background. These images are reminiscent of the photograms that I have made.

If you are interested in purchasing any of my images, please click on the Imagekind link below. Imagekind will print any of my images at varying sizes. They can also matt, frame, and glass the image if you like. If there is an image on my Web site that you do not see on the Imagekind Web site, please contact me by clicking here. I will upload the image to make it available. Thank you.
