Adirondack Tissue Holder

Right side

Left side

After traveling to the Adirondack region in upstate New York I became interested in the furniture and other home furnishings that they had built from region by products.
I brought home with a large piece of bark from a birch tree and let it dry over a season. Once dry I sanded the back side of it to remove all the decay and then built a wooden box out of 1/2 inch birch plywood that would fit over a long tissue box. I attached each piece of bark and then trimed the edges once the glue dried.
I had saved some limbs that had fallen from my River Birch in the back yard and cut those to fit at all of the corners. I attached those with hot glue as well as the pine cones on the top. The samll sections of limb reminded me of the piled logs that sit by the fire places.

I also added some extra pieces of bark to couple of the sides to get the box a more rustic feel.
